EA has shocked the world yet again by informing gamers not to expect a single player campaign in the upcoming Comand & Conquer Generals 2.
Speaking with PC Gamer, Bioware Victory general manager John Van Caneghem explained that Generals 2 will not launch with a single player campaign, and that both co-op and PvP skirmishes will serve as the game’s focus.
Caneghem did reveal however, that more modes could be added to the game if the community demand is high enough, including a story mode.
So let me get this straight. We have now reached a point where we have to demand a single player campaign to a series that has always prided itself with single player campaigns? Whaa…I just…really, I just have no words for this. I’m out.
What would make EA pull such an act makes hardly makes any sense to me. Could it be because they lack the ability to produce better storylines? It might also have something to do with that free to play thing.
I have to say that I always enjoyed how Generals took real life wars and turned them into parodies. I want to see more of that!
Hopefully this won’t spell the end of the seires. I’d hate to see it go out like that.
