Fan Made Mega Man Aniversary Game Looks Legit

Anniversary_megaman

While I’m still trying to get the “Xover” taste out of my mouth I came across this vid that pretty much made my entire year. Yes, year, because it looks THAT good.

Started in August, our team of six game industry professionals has been working hard to get a preview of the game ready in time for December 17th. Feast your eyes on this first trailer and expect more over the next couple of weeks. We really hope you enjoy what you see.

I have to say, I’m damn impressed. Like, if someone showed me this trailer and didn’t mention “fan made” I would have instantly thought Mega Man 11. Seriously, kids these days…

However, the cherry on top has to be the Legends reference with the Bonnes. Mixing those two up will certainly give me the flavor I’m craving for.

The game looks awesome! Will definitely get this game once it’s done. And it’s worth the wait seeing the potential of the game.

So, let me get this straight. So many fangames are being made, and this is the best one that made your whole year?

You don’t look into a lot of Megaman fangames, do you?

wow, i honestly gotta say my hats off to this one!! Its great how a fanbase can make a better game than the people who have been doing it for 25 years lmao

Yeah, I really have to agree with Berserk.

I’ll always applaud whenever a new Mega Man game comes out, and the promise for a demo is tempting, but… if this made your year, look up Mega Man X: Corrupted.
If you’re so excited for this one, viewing any single video of MMXC may be dangerous for your health, though.
Your intestines will jump out of your body via your nostrils, and you will become instantly bald.

    THAT is worth creaming over.

(if any of the devs of this game are around, don’t take it badly, your game looks pretty good!)

I… don’t approve of this. I feel like it’s trying to cash in on nostalgia, Legends 3 misfortune and the sudden love for that series, as well as everyone’s desire for that Megaman crossover Xover was supposed to be.

Now, Megaman X Corruption and Battle Network… those are games made by people not even in the industry, whom have been working on them for years with love and for the fans and for Megaman. They don’t throw in nods for laughs or to show up Xover and Capcom and give a feeling of nostalgia for the sake of it. They focus on the gameplay elements and story so it feels like an authentic Megaman game, something that this trailer fails to achieve and fails to convince me it has.

‘It’s 8-bit!’. So? Does that make 7, 8, &Bass, and Powered Up any less Megaman titles?

‘It has Protoman!’ So? Capcom did it already as have numerous flash titles. Where’s Bass is my question.

‘It has the Bonnes!’ So what? It means a possibly bad time travel plot. Remember folks, Legends happens after X, Zero and ZX according to the official timeline. And cameos and crossovers do not mean a game is good. If it does, then Xover is game of the year.

It’s not even ‘fan’ made! Fan made is supposed to be by fans who don’t work in the industry and aren’t as skilled! This is developer made! These guys worked on stuff like this before! It’s not fair to the other fangames who need more support due to lack of experienced team members and can’t get it because these guys are now hogging all the spotlight from them!

What’s wrong with being happy about Mega Man? It doesn’t have to be 8-bit, include Proto Man, have the Bonnes, or be made by an amateur for me or any of us to enjoy it.

I also fail to see how this is “unfair” to other fan games considering they’re FAN GAMES – they’re about showing the creator’s appreciation and creativity about something they love, not a petty popularity contest. You’re argument that “This is developer made!” is horribly ironic considering Xover was also “developer made” and was lackluster (but is actually making quite a bit of money)!

The good news is I read your post and all the others here and now I know about a couple other fan games like Mega Man X: Corrupted and Battle Network Chrono X. Now I’m even happier!

I see where you’re coming from but there a few things that really makes this game stand out. Since it’s an anniversary game I’m guessing we’ll see all sorts of cameos. While I totally agree that “8-bit” Mega Man has been done to death, it’s still sort of fits the whole “anniversary theme”. I’m also sure the game will be free since they don’t own any right to sell Mega Man games.

Errr… In my earlier comment I meant Battle Network Chrono X as the Battle Network fangame… my bad.

It doesnt make sense.. Megaman is not related to those enemies since Megaman is for NES and Rockman 7 and Rockman & Forte for SFC/SNES.. They should make Megaman Legend character itself in 8 bit instead to fight those enemies.
