Capcom has done it again! Only this time it wasn’t really intentional.
Christian Svensson, the Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President of Capcom US, has come forward to make sure all those who buy Dragon’s Dogma know it will have on disc DLC. For those of you who don’t know, Capcom got into some serious trouble with Street Fighter X Tekken’s controversial on disc DLC content which caused the company to be downgraded from an A+ to a B rating.
So why take all that risk again, Capy?! Sven mentioned that by the time Capcom received the complaints, Dragon’s Dogma was already too far into the development cycle to have anything changed.
“One such title is Dragon’s Dogma, where the decision to include some additional (but not all planned additional) game content for the game on disc was made at the beginning of the game’s development cycle as at the time this was determined to be the most efficient way of ensuring certain content was made available. Owners of Dragon’s Dogma will be able to further their gameplay experience with the release of additional quests, weapons and other items in the months following the game going on sale.”
Sven also promised that the main quest will offer 40 hours and up to a 100 hours if you managed to complete all the sidequests. Still, I feel that if Capcom really wanted to fix the problem they could have done something. I still remember when Sony had to recall all their copies of Little Big Planet because one of the music tracks contained a verse from the Qur’an Al-Kareem.
Well, whatever content that is locked, it better not be the game’s ending. I hate to be playing for 40+ hours only to be greeted by a message that tells me to download the ‘real’ ending.
