Now I Get It

I have been hearing all about Minecraft from my good friend Hamoodz for a VERY long while. Probably for as long as I have known him! He has always been raving about what a great game it was and how addictively good it was. For this entire time I have always acknowledged that there must be something good about it otherwise it wouldn’t be so bloody popular but from a viewers perspective I never really got the appeal of the game. It had HORRIBLE looking graphics for a first impression and the character moved around as if he was gliding. I didn’t even understand the appeal of building your own place!

After hearing him talk about it for what seems like an eternity I decided to try it out as a way of spending more time with him and other good friends that I have not been able to spend time with because of my frustratingly busy schedule. After recording the Podcast yesterday we went out to dinner discussing the game since it came up again and I decided to quit procrastinating and join the guys on the PC version. We bought a copy for myself and a copy for Doom, we rented a server and while Doom had to go to bed, I joined in with Hamoodz as he ran me through the basics. All I can say is that it was a LOT of fun!

Ok that’s not all I can say… I found the different monsters with different behaviors quiet cool, zombie bursting into fire because of daylight quiet hilarious. And the cave mining! OOOOOhhhh the cavern complex felt like so much fun! I actually went to bed thinking of the Underdark themed dungeon I would create underneath the feet of my fellows!

All in all from my brief experience trying out the game it was a kick-ass experience and I look forward to playing it some more (tonight actually).
