Sega Europe have let slip in that a new Sonic game is in the works and will be due out in 2013. The interview came from Toys ‘n’ Playthings who asked Sissel Henno, Sega Euro head of brand licensing, about the latest news with the Sonic brand.
Over the next year there will be a big focus on the expansion of [Sonic licensed] toy distribution across Europe.
He also mentioned that Sega will be expanding its digital titles along side of releasing the new console game
Similarly, we will also be growing the apparel, publishing and stationary categories. We will have several new digital titles launching as well as a new boxed game, so there will be plenty of opportunities to link marketing campaigns across games and merchandise.
With the recent release of Sonic Adventure 2 HD, and the praise that came with it, many Sonic fans are beginning to wonder that this may in fact be Sonic Adventure 3. I personally wouldn’t hold my breath, but I wouldn’t count it off either. Let’s just wait and see.
