YOU LIE! Resident Evil 6 Has On Disc DLC *UPDATE*

No hope left indeed. It seems Capcom has flat out lied to us and decided to ahead and add On Disc DLC to it’s latest monster creation, Resident Evil 6. According to Xbox Achievement, modders have managed to crack open the game (similar to Street Fighter X Tekken) and discover an extra difficulty mode, costumes, taunts, and melee attacks. These features cannot be unlocked through legitimate means which will most likely force players to buy an unlock code or until the ultimate version arrives (you know it’s coming). There is a possibility that these features will be unlocked for free, but then why lock them in the first place? Money, that’s why!

These vids contain massive amounts of spoilers. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

I can’t say I’m surprised, but really? I mean we are talking about the very thing that downgraded the company’s standards. Do they love bad PR? Think about it, almost game they released this gen happens to have some controversy behind it. Maybe that’s their aim? Or maybe M.Bisson just took over and we don’t we even know it.

**UPDATE**

Some gamers have reported that costumes can be unlocked via Residentevil.net. However, at this time it’s still unclear what features can or can’t be unlocked. Eurogamer has just confirmed with Capcom that extra difficulty mode is On Disc DLC while hidden costumes, melee attacks, and taunts can be unlocked without paying.

Or they were glitchy or didn’t work as intended, but they didn’t bother to yank them out of the code entirely since you couldn’t normally access them anyway.

Yet another reason to hate Capcom and this shitty game.

Ummmm you can unlock the costumes on ResidentEvil.net…..as for the taunts and the extra mode I’m sure that’s going to be given for free :/.

Thanks for point that out. I still haven’t heard anything regarding the extra difficulty though.

well have you taken under consideration the fact that Capcom has residentevil.net and the site actually unlocks thing by playing the game and doing so earns points on said site that allows you to unlock costumes at no cost. maybe these things will be unlocked via re.net.

I prefer to make my opinion based on facts, not theories. I know Capcom made some (many) mistakes, but we need to wait to check how this DLC will be available. Then, we can criticize (or not) Capcom.

It’s speculation that is based on Capcom’s history.

This game started development soon after RE5, before Capcom changed their DLC practices following Street Fighter x Tekken. Removing it to be a separate part of the game would’ve delayed development and besides it’s just capcom that does on disc DLC, it’s jsut their one’s happen to be big reveals or spoilers.

Yea, we definitely need to learn if these features are fully working or not to consider if the company really is screwing us over with locked on disc content. Its entirely understandable to include unlockables such as the possible costume unlocks through the website, but we need to find out if the taunts and melee attacks are fully working or if they’re buggy. Companies leave unfinished content in their games all the time and you can see examples of it in almost every game released to date. TES games are a great example of this, as unfinished content or things that were just really buggy are left in all the time.

I dont see what everyone is complaining about. If thats just all of the on disc DLC they have there then the game is complete. besides most of this stuff can be unlocked through the website mentioned by other comments. Whos to say it doesnt work the same way for others at a later time?

Uhm, those costumes can be unlocked in Mercs by simply achieving an A rank with your character. Carla can be unlocked by earning all costumes. And alt color versions of the alt costumes can be unlocked on REnet.

Taunts are done in mercs only by pressing LB/L2 respectively since there’s no need for a waypoint button in that mode, they simply replaced it with a taunt.

The only thing on the disc is no hope difficulty, nothing else is there. Brelston at Capcom had already confirmed there was ONE piece of DLC on the disc prior to the game’s release. So they did not lie whatsoever. Please get your facts straight before spreading nonsense.

finally someone mentions the turth i swear everyone is out against resident evil 6 and capcom for anything its really sad.

Actually he mentioned that AFTER the videos came out. In other words they got caught red handed.

“Speaking with Eurogamer this afternoon, a Capcom spokesperson admitted that one piece of Resident Evil 6 DLC requires downloaded data and on-disc data to work, but declined to offer specifics. Based on the information available, this may be the No Hope difficulty”

      Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-10-08-capcom-responds-to-resident-evil-6-on-disc-dlc-revelation

Regardless this doesn’t change the fact that they still used On Disc DLC.

I agree with some of the commenters. The Additional Content might’ve been locked for coding reasons and may possibily be released as free dlc or part of a bigger expansion. If Capcom does plan for a bigger set to come out eventually and this was hidden to make the download go more smoothly or whatever, they’ll make a statement in their defense.

On the other hand. This is Capcom. I don’t really see them handing out legitimate content for free. The only game that comes to mind is Dead Rising with those suits and that was quite some time ago. They have a notorious history for charging whatever they feel is legitimate. Also in Capcom history, for those that simply don’t trust Capcom at all, you can wait a set amount of time and they’ll most likely release a GotY esque version of the game which the content in question plus additional, inevitable dlc packs.

    Balls in your court, Capcom.

Here’s an unlock guide for the costumes in Mercenaries Mode:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAHAhJOwYOk

From what I can see, half of the merc costumes from that mod video can be unlocked by earning a B rank or higher in certain mercenary maps. Same goes for character unlocks.

Also for the difficulty has anyone beat the game on all difficulties, maybe thats how you unlock it

you’re a dumbass and the reason gaming journalism is a joke. absolutely no research just parroting to get sensentionalist headlines and hits.

  15. Nahkumen October 9, 2012 at 1:27 AM - Reply

Gaming companies alone do leave behind code and such. This game was already released and already there’s bad PR for it from two-bit journalism idiots who has the need to post anything up. Stuff will be released on residentevil.net if they are on the disk. If you think about it, they added a way to get people to start earning their stuff in a game that already started out with a merc. mode with content on it that you have to unlock for a higher score. Not only that, but with the whole SFxT event you had to pay for it and it was already announced as such in the future.

The problem, with the whole SFxT, is that you had to pay for the content and it already came on a disk. UNTILL the content is strap with a 9.99 or a 19.99 stamp in the XBL/PSN/STEAM, please stay away from assumptions gameoverviews.com and journalist here. You sir, The Arab Gamer, love giving bad PR to gaming companies. Step off this subject and any more from this game. This is not something you should even begin to throw around assumption and lazy-ass researching around.

My overall say on the topic at hand is that the content that most of it displayed is on the re.net site. You do have to work for it but I’m sure there is a money involved if you want to buy it and not work for it. Same with the taunts, I’m sure. I mean, if you do want extra content without working for it, they will provide it for you if you pay the extra money for it. It would only make sense if you pay for what you want more of. The DLC for Final Fantasy, the boss add-ons, it’s what people wanted more of. So they give it, but they also saying that “We as the company does not have to provide it in no way shape or form. If you want it this bad then you must provide compensation for what we took our time out to do for you.”

Even though they make you pay for it, don’t you think it’s kind of them to make available content that make the game more playable? Even though it’s costumes that aren’t really that Wow-ing, they just make a different weapon set available.

Note: The costumes that they display, the alternate one but different colors, they have the same weapon set as the alternate. I don’t want to sound like a dick, but if that’s the problem then don’t play the game. Don’t bitch about a small details like that.

Quit your bitching, it’s not like you have to pay for the costume unlocks, the first batch are on residentevil.net, and the others are locked probably because they rushed the release a whole month earlier. The new patch will unlock unlock No Hope difficulty, but as far as stuff you have to pay for… Where’s that Ustanak multiplayer mode? Oh that’s right, there’s no videos of hackers playing it. So I’m pretty sure it’s off-disc.
