The PSVITA finally has the ability the play PSONE classics! Although many expected this feature to be available from day one, it seemed that Sony needed to iron out a few issues before making them compatible on the Vita. Some speculate the delay was due to ensuring anti-piracy and that by adding this feature could put Sony in a tight spot. Regardless we got it which means now I can play Final Fantasy VII on that glorious OLED screen. YAAAYY!

“Why aren’t all of them available to downloaded?” You may be asking. Again, this could be Sony taking measures to prevent piracy BUT if you wish to put other PSONE classics, then you can download them on the PS3 and transfer them to your PSVITA. Here’s a simple how to guide.
Unfortunately not all PSONE games can be transferred to the PSVITA making things a bit more confusing. Destructoid managed to grab a list of games that currently work on the PSVITA so here’s hoping yours made it.

And if you’re one of those who don’t have a PS3, well you’re SOL and need to be patient.
Oh, and apparently the update includes other features like using the d-pad to navigate the menus or something. Check out the overview in the video below. If you’ll excuse me I need to go and lay down. I suddenly have a terrible head ache.
