StarCraft 2 Prohibited at ChinaJoy 2009?

23 July 2009

According to unofficial sources, Blizzard will present StarCraft 2 at ChinaJoy 2009. At the place, there are many activities indicate that this true such as the advertisement trailer at the big screen.

But, those activities has been paused and fans of StarCraft 2 has lost the opportunity to try out their favorite RTS game.

Currently, official reason has not been announced. According to Chinese law, all game presentation events and all game contents such as advertisement, presentations… of foreign games must follow the imported games law and must pass a series of strict rules.

According to online communities, the reason may be because StarCraft 2 is “too violence” and “may have bad effect to young people”.

This is not the first time products of Blizzard have been prohibited at Chinese. World of WarCraft used to be restricted because it’s violence level.

Starcraft 2 will NOT be Delayed

14 July 2009

Despite a lot of games has to delay this year (including my favorite BioShock 2), Starcraft 2 is not one of them. That’s what Blizzard respond to the rumors.

According to the announcement on IGN, Blizzard stated they will not change Starcraft 2 release date "We're still targeting the end of the year for the launch of StarCraft II and we're also still targeting this summer for the start of the beta, so none of that's changed on this end.”

Previously, According to Stearne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, Starcraft 2 could potentially pushed back to 2010 due to the financial crisis.

BioShock 2 - Release Date Delayed

According to Take-Two, they need more time to ensure that BioShock 2 meet up with fan’s expectation.

Although having 4 developers working together, BioShock 2 still need more time to complete. BioShock 2, along with Mafia 2, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption will be leading title of Take-Two in 2010.

Chairman of Take-Two confirmed: “"That said, we concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product. We believe the result will be a more compelling consumer experience and a better performing product in the marketplace. At the same time, near-term retail conditions have proven to be more challenging for our business than the assumptions built into our prior outlook."

CEO of Take-Two added that it’s not an easy decision but they thinks they need to invest more time for the game to ensure satisfactory of the title fans.

It’s a safe move as the financial crisis make customers more conscious and choosy, especially at the end of the year.
